YIA Art Fair
9 maart, 2017 @ 12:00 am - 13 maart, 2017 @ 7:00 pm
For its first edition in Maastricht, the contemporary international art fair YIA ART FAIR will take place at Gebouw M – Tapijnkazerne , located in the city center and only 5 minutes from the famous TEFAF. From 09 to 13 March 2017 the 1000 m2 of exhibition space will host a selection of 35 international galleries with a focus on the artistic scene of the Benelux. In parallel, for its cultural program YIA ART FAIR will invest in the Wiebengahal, annex of the contemporary art museum - Bonnefanten Museum. Founded in Paris in 2010 by Romain Tichit, YIA ART FAIR (Young International Artist) already has six Parisian editions and one in Brussels. Following the success of the last edition at the Carreau du temple in Paris, gathering 65 galleries from 20 countries, YIA ART FAIR wishes to continue its international expansion. It is on the occasion of the 25 years of the Maastricht treaty, a strong political symbol of cooperation between countries of the European Union, that YIA will establish in Maastricht in the heart of the European continent. In March, Maastricht will become the capital of art. In this context, the exchange between local and foreign professional actors is reflected in the eclecticism of the fairs program, which highlights a mixed artistic scene. The two winners of the YIA ART FAIR Award #07, Matthieu Boucherit (galerie Valérie Delaunay - FR) and Abdul Rahman Katanami (galerie Analix Forever - LU) will be honored in two solo shows. The international contemporary art fair - YIA ART FAIR - chooses an open space, valuing the circulation and the dialogue between the works, the artists, the galleries and the guests present. This new YIA ART FAIR edition, with the support of the city's cultural department, will open its doors to the public from 09 to 13 March 2017. With young and dynamic works and ideas, YIA ART FAIR will enter the existing cultural landscape as a promise of renewal.
